35th Dr. Edward J. Tabah Visiting Professor in Surgical Oncology

On April 9 and 10, 2025, we proudly hosted the 35th Dr. Edward J. Tabah Visiting Professor in Surgical Oncology: Armando E. Giuliano, MD, FASC, FRCSEd, FSSO. Based in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Giuliano is the Regional Medical Director of Cedars-Sinai Cancer’s Breast Oncology Program and the Linda and Jim Lippman Chair in Surgical Oncology. He is a pioneering breast cancer surgeon, clinician and researcher who helped introduce sentinel lymph node biopsy in the early 1990s, sparing many women the need for major breast cancer surgery. The main focus of his clinical research continues to be the management of early breast cancer and quality of life of breast cancer patients.

Established in 1990, the Dr. Edward J. Tabah Visiting Professorship in Surgical Oncology was Cedars’s first visiting professorship program. It was named in honour of Dr. Edward J. Tabah, who was Canada’s first surgical oncologist and one of the founding fathers of the Cedars Cancer Foundation.
