Honouring Jackie’s legacy by better supporting the unique needs of AYA cancer patients
Jackie was a passionate and caring person, who lived with an open mind and a loving heart. As a young adult with cancer, Jackie experienced firsthand the unique challenges that affect cancer patients in this age group.
The Jackie Aziz Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Program at Cedars was launched in 2022 to help address the unique challenges of cancer patients aged 15 to 39 being treated at the MUHC. It was spearheaded by Lynn and Randy Aziz to honour their daughter Jackie, who was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma when she was 18 and who died at the age of 23.
